I have been using blog skins from various websites to decorate my blog, so I thought it would be fun to create my own. Here are the steps to creating your own blog background.
1. Download a photoshop type program. One that worked for me is Gimp and it is free.
2. First create a new project and set the image size at 1650×1000 pixels.
3. I also opened the layer window. If you are using Gimp you can find this window under the heading window, dockable dialogue, and layer.
4. Select a background color for your blog center and paint the whole background this color.
5. Open the other pictures or images you want to use for side bars in your blog background. Then crop the pictures to the dimensions of 450×1000 pixels
6. I then pasted my images onto my colored background. The middle section of your blog background needs to be about around 665 pixels, so you will be able to read your text on your blog.
6. The most tricky part is creating layers. Everytime you paste a new image onto your background you need to hit the layer button on the toolbar and create a new layer, so you can resize this image or move it without moving the whole page. You can view all you layers in the layers window, so it will be easy to navigate between layers if you need to.
7. Then add embellishments and borders. Be creative. For my border I cut out an image from one of my pictures and then repeated the image with copy and paste.
8. Save your blog background in gimp under file extension.xcf so you will be able to edit later if you need to.
9. After saving your photo in gimp you have to save the picture again under file extension.jpeg, so the picture will be able to be seen on your blog.
10. Next create an account at photobucket.com. This is another free service.
11. Upload your picture on to their server and click the Save & Get Links button.
12. Under the picture there are four links, Copy the info from the directlink and
paste the info in notepad or word you are going to need it in a minute.
13. Go to your blogger page click customize, Pick New Template
14. Select Minima, which is the first option.
15. Find Edit HTML. This is the trick part so make sure you follow the directions exactly.
16. Open the code and look for the information that looks exactly like this. Delete the code below.

17. In place of the code paste the following code. Place your direct link where it says paste your photo bucket direct link here.

18. Save and view Blog

The World Wide Web becomes the haven of anything and everything under the sun. There are a lot f sites, links, and spaces in the web bombarding us with information. However, not all information found in the web is precise. Some information is based on unproven information. Blogs, on the other hand, is a form of presenting information in a more concise and organized manner.
There are a number of bloggers in a blog interacting and sharing ideas about a given issue or topic. However, we don’t just join a blog that simple. We also have to bear in mind that the blog should have a purpose and it is sensible. How do we know if a blog is a great and sensible one? This article will be dealing more on the qualities of a sensible and a great blog site.
A great blog is truthful and based on facts. We don’t just write something that is based purely from our own understanding and opinion. We should support those opinions with facts and truthful information. A great blog does not deceive the reader, but rather lay the cards in every angle. This is one way of letting the reader to think of the authenticity of the issue and the facts that support it. At some point, people will believe in the substance of the blog if all the facts are there and all information presented has been chosen to have a concrete basis and disposition.
A specific and detail-oriented blog catches the attention of the readers. At some point, it is one of the traits that identify a great blog from the rest of the blogs. It should not always be based on facts. It should be specific on the type and kind of facts it is trying to point out. A blog that beat around the bush is not reliable even if we say it is base from facts. We have to pinpoint the source of the belief and the implications of those beliefs to make sure that the readers will be driven to read the blog and think out of the ideas presented.
A great blog should be relevant and sticks to the objective or purpose of the blog. It is not enough for a blog to be factual and specific, it should also be relevant. The real essence of the blog is depicted on the way it connects and implicates different things and come up with a conclusion. The ideas that are stated for each article should reflect the overall idea within the blog.
Informative blogs attract more readers. A blog packed with information and proofs attract a lot of readers since they can relate to the situation and things being projected in the blog. A great blog is informative in a factual way. Sometimes, bloggers are looking for facts that are not common to the readers so that they will persuade them to check everything within the blog.
These are some of the qualities of a great blog. There are some others which can be considered. However, these are just the basics and the most important things that a blog should have to attract readers and to make sure the reader will go through each and every detail of the blog.
